Work and Travel in Australia

Rural work experience
If you're looking for a real Australian experience and to truly immerse yourself in the Australian culture and lifestyle, then this is the program for you!

The Rural Work and Travel program is for people who are keen to experience Australia and support their travels around the country by working on a farm/rural environment. The program commences with a 5 day course at a Jillaroo and Jackaroo school in NSW. The school is open all year round.

The program includes a placement on an Australian farm within one of the requested fields.

What types of jobs will there be?

  • Fruit picking
  • Vegetable picking
  • Farm and station work
  • Feeding animals
  • Crop harvesting
  • Fencing
  • General Repairs at a farm
  • Gardening
  • Farm nanny

Who can take part in this program?

The program is aimed at people who are aged between 18 and 30 that are able to obtain an eligible visa to work in Australia.

Candidates who are on a tourist visa and do not wish to work in Australia following the Jillaroo and Jackaroo school may also apply. Please contact us to be quoted the school only price.

Program participants should also:

  • Have a good level of conversational English
  • Be in good health
  • Be flexible, mature, enthusiastic and responsible.. A sense of humour also helps!!
  • Committed in being proactive in finding their own work following the school.
  • It is not compulsory, but have a driving licence in their home country plus an international driving license will work to your advantage..

How much will I be paid?

All jobs will vary in their wages. You will be told how much you will be earning per hour by the farmer before you commence working. Sometimes accommodation is provided at the farm where you will be working. Depending on the season, some fruit pickers and farm workers can make anything between $500- $1000 AUD per week!  The harder you work the more you will earn!
