UQ advances internationally
In an international survey of the top 200 universities around the world conducted by the UK Times Higher Education Supplement, the University of Queensland has improved its position by two places to number 45. This confirms UQ as the top university in Queensland and one of the topmost universities in Australia.

In fact, UQ is the only Queensland university to be ranked in the top 50 and only one of six from across Australia. UQ Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Keniger said that the result was sufficient proof of the enormous progress that the university had made in recent years and also of its growing prestige internationally.

"This ranking confirms the University of Queensland is a world-renowned research and teaching institution, on par with many larger international universities", he said. "Our academics, researchers and students are being recognised throughout the world for their work".

Professor Keniger also said that UQ featured prominently among the nation's top 3 research-intensive universities and had also won the most teaching excellence awards than any other Australian university. In separate developments, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University also released its rankings for the top 100 Asia-Pacific universities and UQ was among the top 5 in the Australian cohort. The Newsweek ratings also put UQ at number 91 of the world's top 100 universities.

The 2007 Good Universities Guide also gives UQ a favourable report with a five-star rating for student demand, positive graduate outcomes, staff qualifications, research grants, research intensivity and entry flexibility for the St Lucia campus.

UQ given five star rating by uni guide
The University of Queensland has been ranked as one of the best universities in
Queensland and Australia. UQ received five stars across six key performance indicators in the 2007 Good Universities Guide. They were student demand, positive graduate outcomes, research grants, research intensivity and admission access for the St Lucia campus.
Vice-Chancellor Professor John Hay AC welcomed the high rating awarded to the university.
"This is the 10th consecutive year that the Good Universities Guide has assessed UQ as
being at the top of the state's academic and student demand hierarchies", he said.
Professor Hay also said that UQ was extremely competitive across the all the key
performance indicators that were surveyed.
