Ecologist wins Premier's Science award

The University of Adelaide Associate Professor David Paton was awarded the Premier's Science Excellence Award at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the 29th of August 2006.
Dr Paton was honoured for his research into changes to native flora and fauna and contributing to outcomes in the public interest. Dr Paton was among six leading researchers from the university who were nominated in various categories.

"It is fitting that Associate Professor David Paton has been recognised for his excellence in research for public good outcomes. His work is aimed at better understanding the environment in which we live, and with that understanding it will be possible to make decisions that improve the management of our environment", said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Alan Johnston.
Professor Johnston also paid attention to the importance of our natural environment for the benefit of all involved and how humans can better protect it for future generations.
