Regional Australia/Low Population Growth Metropolitan Areas
If you wish to claim points for the regional Australia visa category under general skilled migration, you must have lived or worked in regional Australia or a low growth population metropolitan area for a minimum of 2 years prior to making an application under this category.
Effective from 1 November 2005, you only need to provide evidence of having studied at a campus in a regional or low growth metropolitan area as specified below.
All applicants for a Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) sub class 495 visa will be obliged to live, work and study in regional Australia or a low growth metropolitan area with his/her family.
