Western Australia Schools

PIWA, in consultation with Department of Education and Training International of Western Australia has worked out the following procedure to assist PIWA International students to enrol their dependants in local government schools. Please note it is our responsibility to assist dependants of international students to enrol in government schools if they meet the criteria set by
the Department of Education and Training. Students are responsible for
their dependant's cost of living and studying in Australia.

As from 12 June 2008, dependants of international students have to pay
the following fees if they wish to enrol in government schools:

  • Kindergarden - $3000 per year (no guarantee of places)
  • Pre-primary and primary (Year 1 to Year 7) - $5600 per year
  • Lower Secondary (Year 8 to Year 10) - $6500 per year
  • Upper Secondary (Year 11 to Year 12) - $7500 per year
  • ESL - fee varies as it depends on their level of English
  • (approximately $2000 per year)
  • Special needs program - varies according to individual school

Plus any charges at school level. All fees and charges should be paid
directly to the local school. Parents can negotiate a payment plan (per
term or per semester) directly with the school principal.


Please email the following documents to us

  1. Copy of the dependant's passport with information page
  2. ALL COEs from parent's enrolling institutions (GEOS, PIWA and ECU)


Upon receipt of the above documents, ETI will email to you the
Confirmation of Placement. Please submit this confirmation to the local
Australian High Commission for visa application.

Upon arrival in Perth, please bring the passport and all school reports
to your local school to arrange enrolment. Payment plan can be
negotiated directly with the principal of the school. Please make sure
the student obtains a copy of the enrolment contract and refund policy
from the school.

The fees involved for applying and enrolling in Western Australia Secondary schools include:

  • School fees of A$9,500 per year from Years 8-10 (for a second child it is A$8,900 per year)
  • School fees of A$10,500 per year from Years 11-12 (for a second child it is A$10,000 per year)
  • Overseas student health cover (approximately A$342 per year)

 

Accommodation and Living Costs

Homestay costs - which cover accommodation, food and bills - are A$220 per week, the specific homestay place and amount is determined in advance of arrival. Students will also need sufficient money for transport costs, entertainment and other personal expenses. This is normally around A$130/week for most students.


Other Costs

  • The Visa fees paid to the Australian Consulate
  • Textbooks and study materials (mainly apply in Yr 11 & 12)
  • School and sports uniforms (approximately A$150 - A$200)
  • School excursion & activity charges (e.g. camps, interstate trips)
  • Optional costs for certain sports or activities (e.g. golf, aeronautics, etc)
  • Other living costs
