Lectures

Lectures
Group lectures are arranged once or twice a week and attendance is required. Note taking
during lectures is highly advisable.

Tutorials
Students are assigned to a small group under the direct supervision of a lecturer or
tutor and required to participate in group discussions and debate. Science students
undertake practicals in laboratories instead of tutorials. This form of assessment
comprises of a large part of the final assessment for a particular course.
Independent study Students are encouraged to undertake independent study outside of normal class hours in order to broaden their general knowledge and make the most of their course.

Assessment
Most undergraduate and postgraduate courses have a final exam with tutorial participation
also counting towards the final grade. Vocational Education and Training students are
continually assessed throughout their course.
