A similar model to the Australian technical and vocational education sector exists in New Zealand under which they may include Polytechnics and Institutes of Technology.
These vocation providers offer a wide range of programmes and some of them can act as a pathway to university with a year's credit as is the case for degree programmes.
There are also a number of private technical and vocational providers which provide an
alternative option for a much higher fee.
